Hillery is an expert in healthy aging and holistic health practices. She came to us wanting an identity that didn’t dip into the typical design tropes of her industry. As she says, “You’re a unique person, not a protocol.” Word.
We started by reviewing sources of inspiration for Hillery, which were all aspects of the natural world, and each with particular meanings that were important to the philosophy of her work. To keep things from becoming too busy, and to avoid some of the more common design solutions in her industry, we honed in on two of the botanical elements that were especially important to her: cedar and dandelion. A few rounds of sketching reduced this down to just the dandelion, focusing on its leaves and the seedhead we’re all familiar with.
The leaves became holding shapes for text, and the “dandelion clock” seedhead was abstracted into a circular shape that references an eye. We settled on one typeface that kept the feeling of the identity clean and elevated. Hillery provided a range of photo reference that informed the choice of color palette.
We wanted to give Hillery a simple identity that nonetheless had range, something that could grow with her business, so we included alternate logo lockups for flexibility.
Hillery’s holistic approach “sees your true nature” and helps build a health plan in tune with your individual self. Hopefully we were able to build an identity in line with her healthcare goals that will see her well into the future.
